1. Please provide a little information about yourself (family, hobbies, occupation, etc…).
I got married on 5/12/1990 to Carmen Jeffries to which union were born 3 wonderful children. My favorite games are Words With Friends, Boggle and an occasional basketball game with the young people. I worked for the department of corrections in Jackson, Michigan from 1989 to 2006 and I now own my own painting business.
2. Please describe the day you got saved.
I got saved in April of 2000. I was under conviction for about a day and a half. I remember sitting in my room, wondering what I was going to do with my life. I felt I had no purpose - going nowhere. No challenges. I was just existing. I went to work that night (I was on the 10pm - 6am shift) and at midnight God moved mightily on me to the point where I left work and went home a broken man. God delivered me that night and those Egyptians that once had me bound were drowned by the blood of Christ!
3. What is the greatest lesson you’ve learned in your Christian walk?
My greatest lesson has been individuality. There were about 42 people who got saved the time I did and only 1 other remains. Some I was very close to, prayed with, fasted with, and sought counsel from, but the enemy eliminated them. I've learned to listen to God and not get too caught up in groups and people. Were it not for this lesson, I would have been backslidden or led astray by a foreign spirit.
4. How long have you been preaching?
Before I ever preached a sermon, I began evangelizing on the street corners and going to the prisons. I passed out tracts and cassette tapes with songs and sermons. I eventually bought a tent and began to travel around spreading the gospel. Unbeknown to me, the Lord was grooming and leading me down a ministerial path, even though I didn't know it at the time. There was just an unquenchable burden for souls that drove me. Others began to recognize this and doors began to open for me. I believe my first sermon was preached in a youth service in 2002. It was called "Replacements" and it was only about 15 minutes long. After that, things moved forward very quickly.
5. What is your strongest motivation to preach the gospel?
There is a look that a person has on their face right after they repent. It is a look of joy and relief. That always does something for me. I think it's because that's how I felt when I got saved. I also enjoy seeing a person who has struggled in their experience hit the Rock and become stabilized where they can stand on their own. To hear their testimony change from "I'm trying to make it" to "I know I can make it," those testimonies make all sacrifices worth while.
6. Is there a particular person that inspires you, and why?
I had the awesome privilege to come up under the ministry of Pastor Hampton in Jackson, Michigan. He taught me more about being a minister by his example of dedication and faithfulness than any message he ever preached. The Lord blessed him with a depth to his ministry that had a profound effect on me and my family. What I learned under his ministry helped greatly shape the minister I am today.
7. Tell me about an accomplishment or event that you consider to be the most significant in your life.
I had worked with many saints and ministers on various outreaches and missions, but I had not organized and taken charge of any of them myself. There was a congregation in Memphis, TN that needed help and I felt to go run a revival there. I was responsible for the organization of the revival. I implored God daily for His help and guidance. The devil told me it would be a colossal failure and that all fingers would point at me. I trusted God and He guided me step by step. His help during this time was a turning point for me ministerially. I now know beyond a shadow of doubt that there is nothing that cannot be accomplished with Christ in leadership. It emboldened me to take whatever steps necessary to fulfill the will of God for my life, whether I feel capable or not.
8. If you had one message to tell the world, what would it be?
There is a spirit now present that is sweeping the land. It is a spirit of division cloaked by the spirit of compromise. It has been a strategic masterplan of the enemy. It has affected congregations worldwide. It has turned brothers against brothers and sisters against sisters. Husbands and wives and best friends have all been affected. The spirit of division enters first and does his damage, paving the way for the spirit of compromise. Unless these spirits are identified and cried out against they have the potential to consume the church of God as we know it. Division never stops. It continues until there is nothing left. The devil's goal is to have God's people do his work for him. However my trust is in the Lord and I am assured that God will have a church. He had one before I entered this world and He'll have one long after I'm gone. I just want to make sure I'm a part of it.
